Weekly Home Ed Sessions for 13-17yr olds
The "I Am" Curriculum, Empowering Young People
"Many of our young people feel they don't fit in in this world...
...That's becasue they are here to create a new one!"
Connection
Our Home Ed sessions are designed all around connection. Connection to other young people similar in age and interests, to socialise and interact in group dynamics. There will be opportunities to work alone, as a team and participate in receiving group demonstrations.
Connection to nature. All our sessions will be outdoors, under covered spaces and a fire pit when cold or wet, where nature can have its theraputic effects on the mind body and soul. Mobile phones and electronic devices are asked to be kept switched off and out of site, to better experience the effect of the session. Seasonal plants wild and cultivated will be topics disgussed and used in our programme keeping us connected to the changing year. Acknowleging also the celebrations throughout the celtic wheel.
Connection to creativity through craft. We will introduce various crafts that use natural materials that the participants can develop themselves from totally raw materials. Demonstrative processes and guidance will be given, but carefully done so in order to keep a large amount of creativity. Participants will be encouraged to design make and finish crafts over 6 week terms.
Empowerment
We want to empower our young people to acquire skills that will encourage thier independence. Bringing practical skills to the group such as fire lighting, building and making our own equipments from pencils and paper, to tools, utencils, baskets, textiles, cord. Any of the equipment we will have in our store cupboard will have been made from scratch by us, from raw materials.
Health and wellbeing are important facotrs to independent people. We will look at Mindfulness techniques to override growing emotions, anxieties. We will encourage the awarness of self regulation, grounding, breathwork, bodywork, confidence in individualism and acceptance.
Courage
We want to lead our young people into the future with courage and and confidence. By maintaining a grounded and healthy "NOW", the future will take care of itself.

Extra's
There are always participants can feel safe and grounded. The quiet zone is a place where a participant can go to for any reason, maybe overwhelmed, dejected, not feeling fun. In the quiet zone will be some aids that resemble fidget toys made from natural alternatives incase the need to busy the fingers arises. Anyone in the quiet zone will sooner or later get a visit from a facilitator to check in on how they are feeling and if they need anything.
End of term progress report. At the end of the 6 weeks, there is the option for parents/carers to receive an update on the participants journey over the 6 weeks. What skills they displayed, acquired, improved. These can be practical skills, emotional, social or behaviour. Also encompasing back to us the what the participant found from their journey.
Can a parent/carer stay for the duration?
All participants are welcome to to be dropped off and left on the basis that they agree to follow the basic rules for safety and respect to tothers at all times. At any time either the participant, parent/carer or facilitator calls for parental support for the participant for any reason, then this will be accommodated.
